Field, Hilary

She is a classical guitarist and teacher who grew up in Long Island, New York and studied at the State University of New York at Stony Brook where she earned her BA in Music and has been a winner of the Northwest Young Artist Series Competition.  She was also a winner in the ladies Musical Club Soloist Competition, where she was the first guitarist to gain the prize.

She was awarded a City Artists Project Grant by the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture in 2019  She has also been sponsored to tour South America by the US Embassy.

Alongside appearing on various television and radio broadcasts she has made several recordings which include the award winning Music of Spain and Latin America, which the National Association of Independent Record Distributors named Classical Album of the Year, followed by Ballad Stories, which included the world premiere recording of Berceuse for Guitar and String Quartet by Jorge Morel.  The next albums she released are Siente: Night Songs from Around the World and Premieres, which contains works that were written for her.

In the field of musical education she is a co-founder of Mulberry Bush Music and Movement and is a member of the Early Childhood Music and Movement Association.  She has studied early childhood music developments and is a registered Music Together, Musikgarten and Suzuki guitar teacher and has been Head of the Guitar department at Pacific Lutheran University and Seattle Pacific University.
