(Leroy Anderson)
Composed in 1939 by Leroy Anderson as a follow-up piece to “Jazz Pizzicato”, this piece was a commission by Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops Orchestra. The two pieces together were written so that they would fit onto one side of a 78rm record and represent two of Leroy Anderson’s earliest original compositions. Lasting approximately 2 minutes, the work is written for string orchestra with the legato style being played by a bow and after this piece was submitted to the orchestra Leroy Anderson became a permanent orchestrator and arranger.
