Alberts, Ellen

She is a flautist born in Groningen, The Netherlands, who began performing with the Regional Youth Orchestra which led to membership of the World Youth Orchestra and performing in several countries throughout Europe.  She was a student at the Musikhochschule Detmold and graduated from there in 1981.

In 1981 she joined the Northern Philharmonic Orchestra where she remained until 1992, also playing with many chamber music ensembles.  In 1993 she joined the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic and the Netherlands Radio Symphony Orchestra.

On 5th September 2009, the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic supplied the music for a Radio 4 presentation of Franz Joseph Haydn’s opera, Almida.  They teamed up with Groot Omroepkoor on 3rd October 2009 for a program of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “OuvertureCoriolan, opus 62”, Luigi Cherubini’s “Chant sur la mort de Haydn”, and Haydn’s Missa Cellensis nr.2 in C, Hob.XXII,8 (Mariazeller Messe).
