Lomas, Barbara Joyce (19th May 1952-Present)

She is a singer-songwriter born in Bessemer, Atlanta, who spent her high school years where some of the other students included Frederick Knight and William Bell aka Bill Spoon of Bill Spoon & The Soul Notes.

She joined up with a group of singers and musicians in Brooklyn in the early 1970s and became a founder member of the King Davis House Rockers in 1972, soon changing to Madison Street Express and Brothers Trucking.  Within a year or so they had evolved into Brooklyn Transit Express and soon became familiarly known as B.T. Express. She sang with them on lead vocals throughout the next 3 or 4 years or so, seeing success from 1974 with the gold disc winning hits “Do It (‘Til You’re Satisfied)” and her co-written “Express” as well as several other chart hitting songs and albums.

She still makes occasional appearances with members of the group at events such as the 2004 Soul-Patrol East Convention in New Jersey and in 2006 she featured as a vocalist with Brass Construction on a tour of France, which included an appearance at the Fiesta des Suds in Marseilles.
