He was a collector and adaptor of music born in France sometime in 17th Century. Known in France as a “curieux”, he collected a large amount of the works by the composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier and adapted several of his works, including the music that would be used for the Christmas carol “Un Flambeau, Jeanette, Isabella” (Bring a Torch, Jeaneatte, Isabella).
